From February 1st 2003, The Fast Group are the authorised distributors for South Wales. One of the original seven oil manufacturers and with over 100 years of oil producing, Gulf pride itself in being at the forefront of the lubricating industry. A full product guide and MSDS (material safety data sheets) is available to view at the bottom of the gulf section.
Gulf is rightly proud of its long traditions at the forefront of technological progress and development within the global lubricants industry. Our intent remains to be amongst the first companies releasing technically proven, quality products meeting the latest industry & equipment manufacturer requirements, as their final definitions are agreed within the industry. Today Gulf offers a full product portfolio of lubricants; fluids; greases and car-care products around the world. Our automotive grades for gasoline-powered engines include the fuel-efficient API SL/SJ range (Gulf Formula G, Gulf TEC, Gulf MAX and Gulf Racing) meeting the latest ILSAC requirements, and with various manufacturers' approvals including VW, BMW, Porsche and Daimler Chrysler, depending upon the viscosity grades blended. A full range of viscosity grades from 0W-30 to 20W-50 formulated in synthetic, semi-synthetic and mineral base fluids, ensures that there is a product available to meet all gasoline engine demands. Where service and climatic conditions are less demanding a cross-section of performance and service profile, including monogrades, are available in existing ranges. Our ranges for diesel-powered vehicles are equally comprehensive, and products meeting the conflicting technical demands of the American and European markets are readily available. Again we can offer synthetic, semi-synthetic and mineral oil based products, ranging from viscosities of SAE 5W-40 to 20W-40 plus monogrades. Fully synthetic Gulf Fleet Force Synth (for European specifications), together with our product ranges of Gulf Superfleet (for European engines) and Gulf 'Duty' (for U.S engines), ensure that we can offer products to meet a full cross-section of operational, service and climatic demands, be they 'on' or 'off' highway. In both gasoline and diesel powered engine categories, as with other market sectors, Gulf is especially keen to recognise the needs of local customers and to play its role in ensuring that product offerings are truly available for all requirements. Accordingly, there will be additional quality products available that meet local equipment manufacturer and community needs in all our markets. Complementary to these automotive crankcase products, Gulf can offer a comprehensive range of fluids for automotive gearboxes & transmissions to meet all eventualities, ranging from fully synthetic (Gulf Syngear), through multipurpose products (Gulfgear MP) to the OEM approved products (for example: Gulfgear DB, Gulf Dexron ® III, (ATF DX), Gulf ATF DX, Gulf HT Fluid TO-4 and Gulf HT Fluid C4). To complete the portfolio, brake and clutch fluids (racing quality, DOT 5/ 4/ 3), engine coolants and anti-freezes, as well as an exhaustive car-care product range are all available. With a significant Gulf presence in poorer urban areas, and rural communities around the world, we can offer a full selection of Two-Stroke and Four Stroke oils for use both on and off water, together with a range of tractor oils and agricultural oils. Again, within these market segments, Gulf pursues a policy of offering products for all needs, from biodegradable (Gulfgreen 3000 for water-cooled outboard engines), fully synthetic (Gulfsyn 4T for four stroke cycle engines), to multifunctional, mineral-based (Gulf Universal Tractor Transmission Fluid for agricultural equipment) fluids and lubricants. Gulf lubricant and fluid product ranges are not confined to use in the crankcase, or with associated support functions, (i.e. cooling systems; brakes and gear boxes). Industrial applications are fully covered with specialist and cost-effective ranges of:
HistoryAt 10.30 a.m. on January 10th, 1901, the world's first high volume oil well roared into history. Flowing at an estimated 100,000 barrels of oil per day it put Gulf at the forefront of what was to become the global oil industry. The Lucas Gusher or Spindletop, as it became known, marked the beginning of a new age for the world - The Petroleum Age - as well as laying the foundation on which the Gulf Oil Corporation was built. The successful exploration and production which began over a century ago marked the beginning of a corporate culture of progress and excellence which continues in the Gulf Oil business to this day. Gulf has pioneered new technologies, not least in carrying out the world's first over-water drilling operation in 1910 and creation of the world's first commercial catalytic cracking process in 1918. Gulf also became a champion of the consumer from that historic day in 1913 when the company opened the world's first drive through gas station. In recent times the company pioneered the technique of Aerial Seismology and has gone on to explore for uranium and discover gas in the North Sea. A monument on the site of the Lucas Gusher is more than a monument to Lucas or Spindletop. It is a tribute to the Petroleum Industry. On its side cut in eternal Texas granite is the story of oil. "Petroleum has revolutionized industry and transportation; it has created untold wealth, built cities, furnished employment for hundreds of thousands and contributed billions of dollars in taxes to support institutions of government. In a brief span of years, it has altered man's way of life throughout the world."
